PK on Pole, PD to Start 3rd at Mid-Ohio

RealTime Acura SPEED Touring Cars race Sunday at 315p

Pierre Kleinubing did something today he hasn't done since October of 2004, by scorching the lap record and qualifying his #42 RealTime Acura TSX on the pole for Sunday's SPEED Touring Car race. In doing so, he improved the points situation for both Acura and himself, gaining slightly on both fronts.

"Tomorrow is what really counts, but my car handled this new Mid-Ohio track fantastically," Kleinubing enthused, alluding to the 50,000 tons of fresh asphalt laid down around this challenging circuit.

"We tested here a few weeks ago which helped our dry set up quite a bit. The wet conditions we've endured much of this weekend has limited everyone's dry track time and that's helped us even more," he added. "My car should be good from the start and will hopefully still be strong at the end!"

All five RealTime cars, sponsored by Acura Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles, will start from a strong position.  Peter Cunningham will line his #1 TSX up directly behind his teammate on the inside of row two, while the third of the team's TSX drivers, Brandon Davis will start his #20 in seventh. The pair of RealTime Acura RSXs of Eric Curran (#43) and Nick Esayian (#34) qualified 10th and 14th, respectively.

The SPEED Touring Car race is scheduled for Sunday at 315p (EDT).

The race will be broadcast via tape-delay on SPEED Channel Saturday, May 27, at 800p (EDT).
